Honoring the Old Kearney High School

10/01/2018

In an effort to never forget our past, First Baptist wants to honor those who made the old Kearney High School their home.

First Baptist is raising money to memorialize Old Kearney High, and we’re asking you to join us in remembering the past while impacting the future! As a part of the building process, we want to recognize those who made this building so special. We will do this by honoring all 1961-2016 graduates in an Alumni Room, a Memory Arch, and in the new front entryway. All donations go to the construction of these memorial spaces.

· The Alumni Room will be a dedicated, 1200 square foot room with memorabilia from the original building, yearbooks, old wood paneling that lined the halls in KHS, pictures, and signs. In addition, the Alumni Room will have a display with the names of all KHS graduates from 1961-2016. This room will be available for class reunions, future graduation receptions, and other gatherings.

· A Memory Arch will symbolize the bridge from the original building to a First Baptist triple cross display on the north side of the building. On the south end of the Arch, we will honor the history of Kearney High School with a base stone containing a list of all KHS graduates. On the north end of the Arch, we will honor the future of First Baptist Church with a base stone, which lists all supporters of this project.

· We will make the front entryway into a memorial to those who came through the Old Kearney High. If we reach the goal on this portion of the project then all of those who helped make this project a success will have the graduates they honored listed here.

Fundraising Goal: $300,000

Memory Entryway & Arch: $270,000

Alumni Room: $30,000

Here is how to be a part of the Memory of the Old Kearney High

· Donate $100 to recognize a graduate

· Donate $1,000 to recognize ALL graduates from your family

For every graduate you honor with a donation, you will receive a gift of an engraved 8-inch wood panel or an engraved brick from the KHS building. In addition to the gift of brick or wood, we will recognize the graduate(s) you honored in a unique way. While all 1961-2016 graduates' names will be listed in the Alumni Room, those honored through donation will be emboldened to indicate their part in making this memorial happen.
